I’m back! I missed you guys and I can’t wait to fill you in on what I was up to last week. I attended the Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy Master Class.

Day One was packed with info on face shapes and how to do both structural analysis and facial analysis. We also learned a ton about the history of makeup and the defining looks of the last century.

Day Two we got to dive in to highlighting and contouring. Before this class, I was just copying the beauty gurus on Youtube without understanding why. Now I understand why and how to contour each kind of face shape so that they appear more like an oval (considered to be the perfect face shape.) We also got a surprise visit from the owner of the M’Lashe company who gave us a free gift of four lashes a piece! I’m still pretty terrible at putting on lashes but as soon as I nail it, I will take pretty pictures to show them off. In the meantime, here is me and my classmate Maygen from that day.

Day 3 we combined what we learned about highlighting and contouring and added custom blending foundation and powder. I worked on my classmate Nadaria that day.

Day 4 was all about eyes. I did this olive and gold smokey halo eye on my classmate Mahshid.

Day 5 was our test and final look on a model we brought ourselves. I chose to bring my mother-in-law Mindy as she is always happy to be guinea pig.

So now I’m a certified makeup artist. I had such a great time and I’m so grateful for the knowledge that I gained. I can’t wait to get my brushes onto some more faces!
